In this interpretation of the Yokai the umbrella is made of a flower. The two-legged Yokai is, as far as I known, rarely seen.
The legend/story is that old unused things, like for instance an umbrella, can have a soul which turns into a "monster" (Yokai).
This well-known Japanese shaped vase is made about 1910-1920. A vase like this depicting a Yokai in this form/interpretation is a real rareness or even a one-of-a-kind.
