Red marbled vase is an original decorative object realized in the first decade of the 20th century. Made in France. Original colorless matte glass with red melted marbling and yellow ornamental painting. Signed: Leg. Mint condition. Very beautiful vase with very long neck and body that tapers upwards painted with red and white shades. On the upper side of the body there is a golden abstract decoration with geometrical elements. This work has been realized by Legras-Saint-Denis, France. The Legras-Saint-Deni smanufacture 1864-1939 is founded by François Théodore Legras. Legras also dedicates himself to chemical studies, so as to be able to apply notions and technical secrets that led him to raise the signature, in commercial and artistic production, among the most important in France. The heterogeneous production of Legras includes glasses for the hospital sector and chemistry laboratories, gobeleterie, tableware, trays for desserts and cheeses, up to the original and curious liquor bottles or essences with famous shapes. At the end of the century the production of Art Nouveau glasses began. Legras and his nephew Charles, who joined him in 1900, produced vases, jardinières, Soliflores, glass and crystal boxes and lamps, cameo, intaglio or enamel, with floral representations, pastoral scenes, marine landscapes and delicate snowy landscapes, which constitute a sure point of recognition of the Legras style. For technique, aesthetics and beauty they come to compete with their contemporary glass masters, in certain models and processes they even manage to overcome them. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
