Made by the Turkmen tribes in eastern Turkestan, central Asia. In the past, the city of Bukhara was a trading place for these rugs. Nowadays, the rugs bear the respective names of the various tribes and their generic name is now "Turkmen rugs". Today, the term "Bukhara rugs" is used instead for rugs that bear a particular pattern, the Bukhara pattern, which is a repetitive design using the göl or gul pattern. Here, we find the gul pattern with fleurdelisé cross of the salor. Very good condition. See less
