An object is not only a physical presence but also the gestures and functions it creates. Lily is born from the consideration of the rituality of the gestures that some objects determine. In Japan, there is a tradition linked to the ancient cherry blossom festival, during which families gather for picnics outdoors and eat meals in the 'juubako', a box containing parts of a meal that represents the ritual linked to a meeting. Moving from the East to the West, the ritual value of eating meals does not change, although the practices are among the most diverse, linked to individual cultures. The question becomes, then, which one we consider to be the most gestural of our ways of consuming food today. Lily is the answer: a tray that houses small containers to offer appetizers, light dinners, delicacies to eat in a moment of pure happiness and relaxation with friends and relatives.
Tomoko Mizu is originally from Tokyo, in 1994 he founded his own studio in Milan, dedicated to product and furniture design and corporate image consulting. Her design process is based on the careful observation of the culture where she was born (the East), where she grew up professionally (Europe) and on the characteristics of the materials. she participated in the Sardinian handicraft biennial in 2009, where she was selected for the Compasso d'oro 2011. Her vases, produced by Cappellini, entered the permanent collections of the MAGMA Museum in Roccamonfina (CE), in 2010. In addition, in Milan (June - September 2013) and Tokyo (October 2014) he presented a solo exhibition with Fritz Hansen, and for several years he organized workshops at the Politecnico di Milano, the Domus Academy and the IED in Cagliari.
