The shape of the vases is inspired by ancient Roman glassware. The Scavo glass technique imitates the effect caused by long periods spent underground, typical for glass objects found during archaeological diggings. Alfredo Barbini invented this technique in the 1950s. Later, in the 1970s, the technique was taken up by Seguso Vetri d’Arte. The Scavo technique was trending in the 1970s.
