Antique Brazilian Rosewood canted rectangular box is decorated with applied and inlaid brass work in the manner of Boulle.

The box was created in the United Kingdom in the period 1795-1840 and most likely dates to the early 1820s.
The lid features trim of applied foliated brass surrounding inlaid brass banding around a central inlaid foliated brass cartouche.
Below the brass trim and at the base of the box is carved gadrooning.
The box stands on turned rosewood knob feet.
The box does lock and comes with the original key and silk tassel. The lock and the foliated escutcheon are brass.
The interior lid is lined with striped moire silk fabric in pink and salmon tones. the interior base is fitted with cubbies for containing card, chips, and dice for gaming. The cubbies are lined with pink paper. The edges are gilded.
The outer bottom of the box is lined with antique marbleized paper on which is printed page four of the fifteen-page 1752 Robert Roberts, Esq. book in which he sought to vindicate his actions as the creditor's agent in a lengthy and difficult process to settle the affairs of the post-late-1725 Irish banking business of Benjamin Burton, Samuel Burton, and Daniel Falkiner.
