A bold, beautiful aquatint lithograph by the always admirable John Melville Kelly. "Net Fisherman" displays a captivating young man (hubba hubba!) net fishing. Please read below for John Melville's personal account of the print. Unframed measures 7 1/4" W x 10" T. With new frame and matting measures 15" W x 18" T. Signed on left. Comes with original "Greetings" insert.
As written by John Melville Kelly in insert, "...Once again stalwart, bronzed Polynesian fishermen can cast their nets in waters untroubled by the lurking dangers of war.... In the long minutes when the Hawaiian fisherman stands perfectly still and in the movement of the water watches the presence of the fish, man once again transcends civilization and becomes one with nature - the rock, the coast line, the rugged silhouette of burned out craters, the contours of the food-bringing Pacific."
