This artwork titled "Lermoos” c. 1960 is a color etching by noted Austrian artist Josef Eidenberger, 1899-1991. It is hand signed in pencil by the artist. Custom framed in a burnished silver frame. The artwork is in very good condition. The French mat is in very good condition. The frame is slightly damaged, with some chips on the right bar.

Lermoos is a municipality in the district of Reutte in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It consists of two subdivisions: Unterdorf and Oberdorf. Lermoos is most popular for its skiing and snowboarding in the winter and is very popular resort in the Zugspitze Arena. The town has many hotels. The village is set looking towards the Zugspitze (the highest mountain in Germany) and the Sonnenspitze.

Josef Eidenberger was born in 1899 in the little town of Goisern, Austria,he began his artistic career as a landscape painter. In 1923 he enrolled in the famed Graphic Academy of Art in Vienna and studied under Professor Alfred Cossman. His recognized talent brought him many commissions from city officials and members of the business communities throughout Europe, especially in Austria and Germany. In 1973 after visiting the United States for the first time he created a series of California etchings. In 1974 he was commissioned to do a series of color etchings of Williamsburg, Va. in commemoration of the United States Bicentennial celebration. During his travels throughout the U.S. the same year he was once again commissioned to do etchings of the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City and scenes of the East and West Coast. In December of 1977, the Austrian government awarded Josef Eidenberger, the honorary title of professor of the art in appreciation for his contribution to the advancement of fine art.
