About the artist:

Roy Ahlgren (1927-2011 ) was born in Erie, PA. He earned a BS in art education at the University of Pittsburgh and worked as a designer for Marx Toy Company. He is primarily self-taught as an artist. After college he worked for the US Information Agency in Washington DC, and the Butler Art Institute in Youngstown, OH. Ahlgren taught at Edinboro University and Erie Technical Memorial High School. His work is in permanent collections of: the US Information Agency in Washington DC; the Butler Art Institute in Youngstown, OH; the Minneapolis Museum of Art; the Seattle Art Museum; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Fredrikstad, Norway; and other museums in Japan, Poland, Viet Nam, Brazil and the Netherlands. Ahlgren has exhibited at the National Academy of Design Annual in New York, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the National Exhibition of Prints, the Library of Congress, and the International Exhibition of Graphic Art in Frechen, Germany. less
