Otto de Souza Aguiar (1938-2006) is a Brazilian artist who received his Master's degree from the University of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro. He combined his experience in fashion and theater with his extensive formal training to create a unique, signature style, which he is known for today. Aguiar's utilization of the "trompe l'oeil" technique creates an image so naturalistic that it appears as though it truly exists. Otto de Souza Aguiar's paintings and murals have been used to decorate residential homes, public buildings, and corporate offices. Aguiar was also asked to create numerous commissions for a variety of organizations, some of which include Gray cliff Inn, Nassau, Bahamas, City Hall of Miami Beach, FL, Fedora Restaurants, Kansas City, DC; Lee Memorial Health Park, Ft. Myers, FL, Aquarius International, Boca Raton, FL., and organizations in Washington. The work of this noted artist is widely present in many collections in the U.S, Brazil and around the world.
