This artwork titled "The Scarecrow" 1933 is a watercolor on paper by noted Kansas artist Robert Ivan Lockard. It is signed an dated at the lower right corner by the artist. The artwork size is 12.25 x 18.25 inches, framed size is 22.5 x 28 inches. Custom framed in a wooden gold frame, with gold color spacer. It is in very good condition.
About the artist.
Lockard, Robert Ivan. b. Norton, Sept. 18, 1905; d. Lubbock, TX, Feb. 1974. Painter, spec. landscapes. Teacher. Etcher. Received a BA and MA in architecture at Kansas State Univ., Manhattan and studied painting with John Helm, Jr. Taught at Kansas State Univ. from 1931-32 and was assistant to the Director of the Nelson Galley in Kansas City from 1933-34. Taught painting and architectural design at Texas Tech. Univ. in Lubbock, TX from 1935-73.
