It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. The canvas size is 34.5 x 38.5 inches, framed size is 45.75 x 49.75 inches. It is framed in a wooden gold frame, with fabric liner. It is in excellent condition.

About the artist:

Herbert August Uerpmann (German, 1911-1996) impressionist painter primarily known for his Alpine scenes, mountainscapes, landscapes, city and townscapes, street scenes and floral still lifes.
Herbert August Uerpmann was born December 17, 1911 in Barmen (now Wuppertal), North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. He initially studied architecture but soon turned to painting.
He studied under Prof. Wittuchter (19th-20th C.) and Prof. Ludwig Fahrenkrog (German, 1867-1927). He later traveled to Paris, Barcelona and various towns in upper Italy where he continued his painting studies.
He was an ardent mountain-climber and was well acquainted with the Alps as shown in many of his impressive paintings.
He died on December 22, 1996, just five days past his 85th birthday in Wuppertal-Elberfeld, Germany. The work of Herbert August Uerpmann is held in numerous collections in Europe and worldwide. less
