This is a set of the “old blue” color of Fostoria Coin Glass. The color is awesome and the etched coins are clear, with the round ribbed borders pristine. The bowls have 3 seams, as can be seen in the photographs, which indicates authenticity. The color is so extraordinary. (The etched coins are clearer on the dishes compared to the vase, but still good.)
History:
-The 1887 coin date on the vase was chosen to commemorate the date that Fostoria Glass was founded in Fostoria, Ohio.
- The 1886 coin date (on the Nappy dishes) was originally started for Avon, that started in 1886. But not all Fostoria dated 1886 is Avon.
