This beautiful and unusually simple manta in natural densely woven natural dark brown hand-spun wool yarns.
Woven by the Aymara women in The Andes mountains, a centuries-old tradition. The two panels are woven on a backstrap loom with the narrow patterned bands on the selvages. The panels are then embroidered together in the center. These can also be called Frazada, in Spanish. But the authentic name is Manta. Both words mean blanket.
I’m guessing and am not sure of the exact age but the quality indicates it is antique. I have owned this piece for over 40 years.

The color is really light in the photos which is not what this piece looks like. The color is as the full pictures. It is priced with moth damage in mind. Please see all the photos. I'm guessing it's age. It could be older. less
