Dating to approximately 1775-1825, this antique mahogany tilt-top table features a piecrust edge. The elegant top is carved from one piece of wood, versus the piecrust edge, which was added on. The pie crust carving is in beautiful shape. The pedestal has classical fluting around the center, and features acanthus leaves just before it tripods out. The top of each leg with the acanthus leave carving , terminating in an eagle claw with ball foot a traditional early American design. This was originally owned by the Armor Meat family in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
The wood has a lovely patina, it has never been refinished. There is a darker center area where a lamp was on the table in front of a window, thus the wood around the lamp lightened. I found two very similar on line for $3,950, and another at $3,875. A classic beauty that will delight for several more centuries!
