Roberto Gonzalez Fernandez is a Cuban artist born in 1972 who paints absurd stylized motifs of adventurous narratives that often feature little people interacting with everyday house hold objects. The artist's attention to detail, muted pallet and imaginative scenes, often painted with a background fading into space, underscores the sense of the surreal. This work measures 39 x 35 inches (100 x 89 cm), comes framed to slightly larger dimensions, and is in excellent condition.
"Dime Con Quien Andas" (2004) evokes a sense of social interactions constrained within the common activities that occur throughout the day, as Fernandez's little people are tightly packed within the boot. Little wheels project on all four sides, literally transforming the boot into a community vehicle. As the title refers, the exchanges between friends are here enclosed in the society's expectations and traditions. This piece continues his series of works, featuring little people, which has brought Roberto Gonzalez Fernandez recognition in the Latin American art market, with multiple exhibitions nationally and abroad. less
