The drawer faces are veneered with Macassar wood from Asia. The natural elements of the wood were used to decorate the design. Asian Macassar is characterized by its blackish-brown background and longitudinal stripes in yellow, orange, and red. A lovely, patterned contrast, to the ebonized dark brown of the rest of the body. Simple petite orange wooden knobs were added to bring out the orange tinge embedded in the stripes. A four-slated decorative stretcher across the curved saber legs gives the tables another eye-catching element. The rows of stretchers work as a shelf for light items like a book or notepad. The simple design of these small tables makes them versatile and adaptable for any setting.
