If you're into exposed brick, exposed beams in the ceiling, and anything raw and organic - you may like to see that this piece has some threadbare spots showing the foundation. No holes, but simply the construction of the rug itself. It is fascinating to actually see just what goes into a rug like this. I will have my grandfather tidy up and secure some of the areas as best as possible to keep its original look but reinforce some of the really worn spots. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects. less

About: Masterful workmanship in this piece. If it is beauty, elegance, and delicacy you are after - something you can marvel at and see the breadth of work in one quick glance, this is your rug. Ever so gently have these weavers woven such a work of art that looks effortless. How can a piece be so airy yet still have such detail and sophistication? How can a rug with such a grand and all-encompassing center medallion come off so calm? It is the reality of somehow combining what seems impossible all within one piece that makes this piece so hard to ignore.
The artists that dreamed of this design and color palette have worked countless hours to create something with such balance and harmony, easy enough for your eyes to digest yet stunning enough to look at every day and find something new. These pieces were woven in a region where classic beauty met the nomadic life in the epicenter where rug weaving originated. This beauty will outlast us and transcend into many generations to come. The colors you'll see in this piece are beige, taupe, sand, soft navy, earthy hues yet cool and warm eggshells, along with bright sherbet hues like muted tangerine, slate blue, and more. In some areas you will see the colors of sunsets - it's truly incredible. The wear on this rug is throughout, with some spots more threadbare than others. If you're into exposed brick, exposed beams in the ceiling, and anything raw and organic - you may like to see that this piece has some threadbare spots showing the foundation. This would be a perfect rug for a lower traffic area; although of course, I've sold pieces like this to boutique hotels, retails stores, and commercial spaces with lots of traffic - the best use for this piece to preserve it for another 100 years would be under a dining room table, bedroom, or even family/living room that isn't your main room, and if you have a coffee table it'll be just as good to place on top of the worn spots - not because you need to, but just as an extra mindful practice to preserve the longevity of this piece of art. Again, I don't want to detur you from purchasing for the main room (because it's beautiful and everyone should see it all the time!), but just be mindful that it's old with age-related wear. Most people like these pieces untouched and original so I haven't done anything to it other than clean it - so if you want us to secure a bit here and there just ask! Oh, and also - there are LOOPS on the back of this rug sown in by hand - meaning at some point this rug was hanging on the wall - HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! Lastly, this is a RIDICULOUS size, so if you're looking for a longer and more European size - this is a fantastic option for a longer living too, under a HUGE bed, or for a dining table with leaves!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.
