Lions traditionally symbolize courage, nobility, royalty, strength and valor. This Lion Passant is in the classic pose - walking, with his right fore paw raised and all others on the ground. He stands out against a rich red leather background & is finely cast with crisp detail. The water gilt frame perfectly complements his dazzling ormolu sheen.

There is a wire across the back, so this piece is ready to be displayed.

A small section of the leather is raised up, under the lion's right rear paw, as shown in photo #10. There is some natural wear to the frame, especially around the edges and corners, that has happened over time. Some separation is apparent on the frame in the corners, as shown in the photos. The patina has different grades of coloration. If I have missed something in my inspection of the piece, please contact me. Antique items have been previously owned and loved, and will show some level of wear consistent with this prior use. The photos serve as an additional description.
