A magnificent antique American silver plate ink stand with two glass Inkwells with silver plate lids. The Inkstand has a rectangular form, pen rest and stands on four impressive ball feet. The sides of the inkwell have ornate pierced designs. The underside base is marked by the maker - a hammer and sickle hallmark and the initials 'I.F.S.'
Measures: 8.75 W x 5.25 D x 2 H inches.
About the maker: Israel Freeman & Son LTD Worked in London at the beginning of the 20th century and moved to New York City in the 1920s. The company was still in business in NYC in 2006 and was run by a mother/daughter team. According to their website (now closed), the mother/daughter are descendants of Isaac Freeman and, at the time, were still selling small silver items. less
