In the religious ritual of a baptism baby or small child are given their baptism name. The ceremony is that the priest uses a shell to pour the holy water or distilled water on the young child's head. The christening ceremony anoints the child with his/her name.

Circa: 19th century or earlier.
Material: Probably Sterling Silver, not tested. The shell is marked but we couldn't identify the mark.
