Staddle stones were used to elevate granaries off the ground, and their intriguing and whimsical mushroom shapes were purposeful to prevent mice and other rodents from climbing up and destroying the grain crops within. Additional photos of staddle stones in use are included. Today, the stones are wonderful decorative garden elements that add whimsy and interest. less
