Exquisite 2 piece set of Louis Dage distinctive "egg yolk glaze" pieces from the 1920's with metal work by Eugene Val. This rare yellow glaze pattern is unusual and beautiful. Drippings of black glaze highlighted with turquoise blue elements flow over the yellow background in a beautiful erratic pattern, hints of gun metal blue iridescence can also be seen.
Signed L. Dage and Val on each piece. Made in France. Gorgeous set for any pottery collector.
Louis Dage (1878-1963), the well known award winning French ceramist created these unique pieces in the 1920's.
Eugene Val (metal artist) partnered with Dage and added his signature metal accents on many of Dage's creations.
Dage did not produce a large number of pieces using this glaze. Stunning pair, excellent for entry display, quite collectible and rare to find these in this pattern.
