Diane Grant is a designer of unique sculpted furniture and light fixtures. Her inspiration comes from nature and her creations combine distinctive and personal elements symbolizing a stylized flower or a tree branch. Diane also draws her inspiration from the work of Pol Bury and the metalwork of Harry Bertoia. The shapes she uses are timeless, like the cylinder, the cone, the rectangle and the golden pyramid. The complexity of her sculptural elements play with the light of day and the artificial light emanating from within them to create an unique ambiance. The technique Diane developed herself is that of gypsum over metal. Each piece is built on a solid metal structure and then finished with gypsum. The process from start to finish for each takes several weeks of layering and sanding. Diane Grant has a degree in Art History, has worked as an antique dealer in France, specializing in Fantasy furniture. In 2011 she entirely devoted her time to the creation of her furniture-sculpted pieces. Her works are part of prestigious private collections in Paris, London, Rome, New York, San Francisco, Miami, Austin. less
