Motoi-Oi (1910–2004) was born in Japan, and moved to New York in the '50s. He was an art teacher and founder of the Sumi-e Society of America, which fosters and encourages an appreciation of Japanese Brush Painting, and also wrote a book on the subject. His prints and paintings can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York and the National Gallery in Washington DC.
This amazing, rarely-seen-on-the-market "Three Owls" print is likely from the 1960s. It is printed on hand-made paper (probably Arches) with deckled edges; is an authentic plate print; ground etching; has a lot of embossing (which is unusual); and may be mixed media.
Hand numbered (162/200) and hand signed in pencil by the artist.
There is a slight hole at top center, but otherwise in spectacular condition.
Please note that the white board and clear plastic corners are for photography purposes only.
