- Iconic vanity tray with handles; the rectangular top is a mirror with rounded corners and has been skilfully ground with … more Iconic vanity tray with handles; the rectangular top is a mirror with rounded corners and has been skilfully ground with stone wheels from underneath depicting a courtship scene showing a courtly couple dressed in all their finery in a landscape or formal garden with architectural elements creating a complete and lively image; the upper edge of the mirror is decorated with a glass cord twisted on itself; the handles are of excellent gilded brass casting, the grips, again with a twisted cord motif, have gold straws inside them; under the bottom, there is a light wood top. The tray was definitely a wedding gift, in fact, on the top of the side, were engraved love the names of the bride and groom "Paola and Nicola". This product, typical of the Venetian tradition, was handmade between 1950 and 1953 using the ancient techniques of Murano workmanship handed down for generations; the artisans were inspired by models created by Barovier & Toso, a Murano glass company in Venice whose activity began in the mid-twelfth century and is one of the oldest companies in the world that still produces pieces of extraordinary workmanship and beauty and it is for this reason that it has always been an example and a model of reference for all Murano production. Our tray is a high expression of craftsmanship and dexterity of the glass masters, a unique and refined work of art characterized by a complex process performed by hand that certainly fascinates and amazes us.
