This Alter Cabinet was once used for The Last Rites of the Catholic Church and contained the necessary articles required by the priest when administering the Sacrament to the sick. Home Alters were also used to record family records such as births, marriages and deaths. Although it is hard to read, the original paper description is still applied to the back of the cabinet. The interior of the cabinet is lined with purple velvet material and is quite worn.
