Wonderful find! Vintage Mid-Century Modern bedroom set by the rarest of designers Luther Draper!
Signed Florida Furniture Industries bedroom set!
This set was designed by a very important and very prolific Mid-Century Modern furniture designer who was known as one of the "Top 10 Furniture Designers in the World" in the 1940's-1960's!
Luther Draper worked for the whose-who of Mid-Century Modern furniture companies of the highest caliber as the head designer. A partial list would include Drexel Heritage, Henredon, Florida Furniture Industries, Eastern Kodak, Abraham & Straus, Phillips-Davis, Founders, and Boling Chair Company just to name a few.
There are a lot of articles on Mr. Draper on the web. These are just a few excerpts.
From August 25, 1960, Ocala Newspaper: "FLORIDA FURNITURE HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS ABOUT 26 YEARS, AND CUTS IT'S OWN LUMBER, AND DRAPERS DESIGNS ARE AROUND THE USE OF NATIVE WOOD."
"He recently designed 2 groups for Henredon, called "CIRCLE 60" and CHERRY CASUAL"
"Proof that his fame as a Designer has traveled far came last year when the Dutch Government invited him to spend 2 month in Holland to consult with Dutch Designers in developing Office Furniture with a European Flavor. While in Europe he visited Denmark, Sweden and Norway."
"He has effectively used the in his Design. He points out that the Danish Style that is so Popular today is really a Modern Version of Early American!"
Wonderful condition. Very minor wear to surface and to glass tops. See photos.
Beautiful set. Rare to find! Especially in such wonderful condition.
Signed on the inside of one drawer. Very important American furniture manufacturer making only first-rate furniture as you can see in this lovely and very functional set.
This wonderful set came directly from the estate it has been in since it was new and now to you!
This set consists of 2 dressers, 1 bed (headboard and foot-board, along with a pair of rails and the wood slats).
The dressers measure 41 1/2" tall, 33 1/2" wide, and 19' deep.
The Headboard and Footboard each measure 57 1/4" wide. This makes it a full size bed.
