- A rustic late 19th century French commode. This piece has three drawers and no locks. The top has burlap which … more A rustic late 19th century French commode. This piece has three drawers and no locks. The top has burlap which was placed on top of the wood and painted. The paint on top is cream and the rest of the commode is stripped back with a light milk paint wash. This is a piece that would be great as a dresser or nightstand. There are a couple of dark marks on the front and have been noted in the above photo. The condition is consistent with the age of the piece. less
