Salvador Teran. Salvador Vaca Terán (1920 – 1974)
Known primarily as a Mexican modernist, Salvador Terán was born in Taxco and
was a cousin of the Castillo family. He began work for William Spratling
(“The Father of Mexican Silver”) at Las Delicias in the 1930s.Taxco born,
Salvador Teran worked with his cousins, Los Castillo for many years before
settling in Mexico City and opening his own workshop there in 1952.
His jewelry is both innovative and inventive, pierced forms with shadowboxed
backgrounds giving a graphic quality to his slightly surrealist pieces. less
