This is just a great original piece. This is one of my favorite things I have purchased in the last few months. I don't have a place to hang it in my home and so as a result I am selling it. Wolf Kahn has really skyrocketed in demand since he passed last year and the demand for scarce and early works like this is really high. This is one of the early Barn lithographs I have found by Kahn.
The provenance on this piece is probably why. This piece comes from a family where the couple owned a loft in New York where the artist used to hang out. They acquired the print directly from the artist and have owned it since then. That also probably explains why the print is #1 from an edition of only 40. This is a large lithograph on paper measuring 22 1/2 x 30 inches. Signed and dated lower right and numbered lower left.
Print is in excellent condition. Deckled edges to the sheet. Print shows some faint discoloration in the upper corners and a few other faint spots along the margin but nothing of concern. Print is floated in matte and frame with matching colors and really presents beautifully. Even the frame selection was done to really make the image jump off the paper. Frame measures 29 3/4 x 37 1/4 inches. A very early example of the artist's Barns series, a small edition where I cannot find another, and great provenance of it coming directly from the artist. less
