Description: This self-portrait is the artist’s expression of her experience with brain surgery in the summer of 2020. For months following the removal of a brain tumor, she was unable to process emotions—unable to experience fully joys or sorrows, elation or anxiety. It was after her recovery that she realized just how precious our emotions are, as is our ability to experience and process them. `Surrender’ is all about embracing our emotions—our ability to think and feel is truly a beautiful thing that we take for granted far too often. In the shower, we are both physically and emotionally bare—no clothing, phones, or distractions to hide behind—we are left with no option but to surrender.
