A hand-crafted art glass paperweight from glass artist Francis Dyer Whittemore, Jr. (American, 1921-2021) dating circa 1970s. The lampwork design comprised of green mistletoe leaves with clusters of dainty white berries and coral bell blossoms rests atop a translucent cobalt blue ground. The composition incorporates two of Whittemore's signature "W" canes; one above each flower. The Art Institute of Chicago includes this same Whittemore art glass paperweight in its collection.
Made in a limited edition for the artist's State Flower Series: this weight is inscribed "27" by hand on the base and mistletoe is the official floral emblem of Oklahoma. The paperweight measures 2.38 in. diameter and is in very good condition with a polished pontil.
