This piece comes from a collectors estate in Minneapolis. They had many pieces, and I managed to pick up several onyx, agate, and marble pieces to add to my shop.

16.5-inches tall, 7-inches wide with a depth of 4.25-inches

I believe the body of the crane is onyx, and the base is possibly agate, or onyx again... onyx typically has parallel banding while agate has more of a circular or ring-like appearance. It's hard to tell with the base.

Great coloring with brown, tan, and cream-colored tones. The banding is beautiful on this one.

The body of the crane is smooth and polished, while the base has a more loose, exposed carved appearance. This is an intentional design choice by the sculptor to have the two pieces different. They are very harmonious.

Excellent condition - No chips, cracks, damage or repairs. There is some light wear to the felt on the bottom side of the base. Minimal.

Artist is unknown. No marking or labels are on this piece, but all of the known pieces from the estate were from Mexico. They had several sculptures from Leonardo Nierman as well as bronze sculptures by Geles Cabrera Alvarado, who is widely known as Mexicos' first female sculptor.
