Qashqai rug antique from Persian with detailed and colorful Tri-Medallion design, Keivan Woven Arts / rug ema-7589, country of origin / type: Iran / Qashqai, circa 1900.
The Qashqai nomads are found in the Fars province in southwest Iran. They move twice a year, between the winter pasture near the Persian Gulf and the summer pasture up in the Zagros mountains where it is much cooler. Their carpets have a typical red-brown ground color, and the patterns are tied from memory, often consisting of a centrally placed medallion, repeated in all four corners. Qashqai carpets consist of a hexagon or diamond with four projecting hooks inside of a hooked diamond. This piece features a tri-medallion design rendered in colors of red, onyx, ivory, green and orange.
