This is an elegant Louis XVI style bergere armchair, with pink upholstery on armrests and seat. This chair has a cane back and cabriole legs, and floral designs are carved in the wood, possibly walnut, frame. The maker of the chair is Chateau D'ax Spa, of Milan, Italy. The removable cushion has zippered fabric around the cushion, which is also removable. The seat is very comfortable.
There are tears in the armrests and on the fabric underneath the cushion. The cushion cover has minor stains which can be cleaned gently or steam-cleaned; the other side of the cushion has stains; also a rip and some wear. The cane back and wood frame are in good shape. Reupholstering would beautify this fine chair.
Dimensions are: 26" wide by 17" high (seat) and 22" deep. The chair was made in 1992.
Founded in the early Fifties, Chateau D'ax at first manufactured traditional sofas and soon became an industry leader. Its relentless research work led to the development of an unmistakable range: over 300 exclusive styles, over 1000 colours, a careful selection of fabrics have always been the trademark of any Chateau d’Ax product. The launch of its franchising network in 1995 made it grow quickly so that now it has 350 stores across the world.
History
Chateau d’Ax opened its business in 1948 as a result of the Colombo family’s hard work and dedication in Lentate sul Seveso, a small town between Como and Milan, an Italian region that is known all over the world for its traditional handicrafts. Chateau d’Ax’s dedication has gone on for decades, so that now it has become synonymous with luxury, attention to detail and modern living. less
