The Herend Porcelain Manufactory is a Hungarian manufacturing company specializing in luxury hand painted and gilded porcelain. Founded in 1826, it is based in the town of Herend near the city of Veszprém. This fine example is marked "Herend Hungary Hand Painted" featuing a green stamp, with the etched number 5558. The green stamp first appeared in 1948.
This colorful peasant girl has lovely detail with a wistful smile, pronounced folds in her skirt, small polka dots on her head scarf in relief and hand painted delicate flowers on her apron.
