The line “Creaciones Zarebski” was designed by a Polish immigrant, Michael Anthony Zarebski, who styled this proprietary material as “greenstone”, it’s composition a mixture of crushed malachite and turquoise suspended in a clear resin. The particles are small enough to render the details of the Pre Columbian motifs but retain individual variegation with the resin acting as an almost invisible force of cohesion. These bookends are based on an Aztec jaguar, though Zarebski was equally drawn to Mayan subjects and styles. Retains the original manufacturer’s label reading, “Industrias Creativas S.A. Creaciones Zarebski, Cuernavaca, Morelos, Hecho en México”. Regarding condition there are a few minor chips but as you can see in the photos these do not significantly detract from their appearance. Each end measures 6 3/4" tall by 5 1/8" wide and 3 1/2" deep. less
