The bust is … more A bronze abstract sculpture of a bust atop a marble base by Russian artist Nahum Tschacbasov (1899-1984). The bust is of a figure with an accentuated neck and relaxed, closed eyes. Along the circular base of the bronze, it is signed "Tschacbasov". On the underside of the square, black marble base there is a tag that reads "Nahum Tschacbasov. Untitled bronze head figure. Signed on bronze base."

Nahum Tschacbasov was a Russian-born accountant who had a successful career as a graphic artist, painter and sculptor who worked between Chicago and New York City. The majority of his painted works are figural and feature a bright, playful palette. In the mid-twentieth century, he taught with the Art Students League. His work has been displayed at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum. less
