Along the circular base of the bronze, it is signed "Tschacbasov". On the underside of the square, black marble base there is a tag that reads "Nahum Tschacbasov. Untitled bronze head figure. Signed on bronze base."

Nahum Tschacbasov was a Russian-born accountant who had a successful career as a graphic artist, painter and sculptor who worked between Chicago and New York City. The majority of his painted works are figural and feature a bright, playful palette. In the mid-twentieth century, he taught with the Art Students League. His work has been displayed at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum. less
