A key figure in California's post-war watercolor revival, Vernon Nye was raised in New York where he first studied art at the Mechanics Institute and, later, with Eliot O'Hara and Roy Mason. After working as a book illustrator, he moved to California where he taught painting at Riverside College and led watercolor workshops all over the world including in Japan, Europe and Hawaii. The recipient of numerous prizes, medals and juried awards, Nye exhibited widely and with success including at the Society of Western Artists and the American Watercolor Society of which he was a lifetime member. less
