Beautifully Artistic Vintage Miro Art Rug, Country Of Origin / Rug Type: Vintage Scandinavian Rug, Circa Date: Mid 20th Century – Artist Joan Miro was one of the pioneers of the Surrealist Art Movement. His name belongs beside artists such as Pablo Picasso, Man Ray, Henri Matisse, and Marcel Duchamp. He produced works beginning in the 1920’s from his studio in Paris France. Like many surrealist artists, his style was a challenge to the traditional styles and the bourgeois society that produced them.
This beautiful vintage Scandinavian rug was produced from one of his paintings. As with Picasso, Miro used a real object or form and then reduced it to is most basic and central elements, focusing more on the emotion that it invokes than the object itself. As with this piece, one can often see human eyes peering out from part of the picture. This was a common theme in his work.
The first thing that stands out in this striking vintage mid century rug from Scandinavia is the use of color. The colors are bold, vibrant, and daring. The strong black lines lend a child like quality to the this alluring Miro Art rug. The colors themselves are put on in layers that allow the background to show through. They tend to run together and do not stay within their confined area.
