The result of mussel cultivation, they were originally fixed on the seabed … more These naturalistic forms make a striking artistic statement! The result of mussel cultivation, they were originally fixed on the seabed floor by fisherman. These poles grew mussels in tidal waters and were used for harvest after harvest. This rare grouping of 3 such poles have an unusual surface texture brought about by years of erosion in the water and have been attached to bases.

The French have been growing mussels using poles since the early 13th century.

Included are 3 poles.
The tallest measures approximately 117" (9' 9") high.
The medium one measures approximately 109" (9' 1") high.
The shortest measures approximately 99" (8' 3") high.
The base on each pole is 7" x 7".
