Early 20th century(1905-1920s)-rare superb Steuben Frederick Carder Verre de Soie Amethyst and clear Covered Jar with beautiful colorful mount Pear Urn Finial. A limited edition, there are most likely few amethyst glass covered jars exactly like this fabricated in the world. Shape: 2944 Form: Covered Vase Color: Amethyst Component colors: Cover: Amethyst Finial, fruit, green stem Colorless handles: Colorless Type: Transparent Decoration: Optic ribs, amethyst Size: 13.5 in high Covered vase with fruit finial Verre de Soie (silk glass)-fabricated over a period of early Carder years, is one of the most important types of glass made by Steuben Glass Works according to page 24 of the 'Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass-1903-1933 Catalog-showing this piece. The example is exhibited in the Corning Museum as part of the important Rockwell Collection in the Carder Gallery. Excellent Condition per age and very limited use. appropriate to the Carder period unsigned.. Most of it is shown in the Carder Gallery, which also houses much of the Carder glass owned by the Corning Museum. Many of the Corning Museums pieces were gifts from Frederick Carder or from his daughter.
