A beautiful two-part English figured walnut secretary cabinet with two shelves in the upper section and a drop-front desk and graduated drawers in the bottom section sitting on bracket feet. The drop front opens to a leather-top desk with fitted cubicles—a veritable warren of pigeon holes and small drawers.
This beautiful and well-proportioned secretary was sourced from an estate in a small, coastal suburban town on Long Island Sound, which in the 19th and early 20th centuries served as a haven for wealthy Manhattanites looking to escape the city’s oppressive heat. This piece is in superb antique condition.
