A period Spanish Colonial hand carved and painted religious Santos. Born in the late 18th - early 19th century during the Spanish colonization of the Americas, most likely originating in the Kingdom of New Spain (present day Mexico). Exceptionally executed and exquisitely decorated the figural statue depicting a Catholic Saint, featuring vibrant polychrome decoration, rich gilt accents, finely detailed, the altar figure posed standing mounted atop a plinth pedestal base.
Great shape overall, especially considering age, having beautifully aged patina over the whole. Presents well, with warm hues, worn, enhanced with desirable distressed, chippy paint finish. Lacking one hand, likely lacking a staff in the other. Full of wonderful antique character, rustic old world charm and rich historical depth.
