Museum quality Paul Bogatay Art Pottery Vessel.
Paul Bogatay was a well known ceramic artist born in 1905 and died in 1972.
Fine rare piece in very nice vintage condition. No repairs or cracks. Around the rim there are some areas with very small specks w/o glaze and looks like it is from its creation and not damaged. Crazing throughout.
Initialed and dated on bottom. 1956
“Paul Bogatay graduated from the Cleveland School of Art in 1928 and soon became one of the leaders of a group of artists working to elevate the status of ceramic sculpture. Bogatay worked at the Cowan Pottery studio and was a professor at Ohio State University and Kyoto University in Japan.”
