This period European tapestry depicts a climactic moment from the Biblical account of the Purim story, with Queen Esther daring to approach the ruler of the vast Persian Empire, King Ahashverosh, without previously having been summoned. Her bravery in this act would lead to the events that would end up with the schemes of the villainous Haman being revealed, and Esther, Mordechai, and the rest of the Hebrews throughout the Persian Empire being saved from the decree of death.
A rare and exciting piece that tells a wonderful story. handwoven; composed of wool, with silk inlay. Condition is very good, but with some areas of reduction and prior restoration. A great choice for a home or a house of worship!
