In the 1963 Libbey's Glamorous Glassware catalog this iconic pattern is described as "Silver foliage, a sleek sister pattern to the Libbey golden foliage design, reminds one of iced leaves lying upon a frosted snow". The Silver Foliage collection features silver trim and silver and shadow leaves. The frosted glass sections set off the leaves beautifully and add to an overall elegant appearance.
Reflecting the fact that automatic residential ice makers were not as common when this bucket was made and ice was made in trays you would fill and freeze yourself, this ice bucket is smaller than its modern cousins, but still sufficient to allow your guests to add extra cubes to their drinks. The ice bucket measures 5.75 inches in top diameter and 4.75 inches in height. It holds 40 oz. of water and about 6 cups of ice. The base diameter is 4.5 inches.
The matching pilsner glasses in the last picture are shown to illustrate how the ice bucket might be used, but are not part of this item. They can be purchased separately and inquiry should be made about combining shipping if you are interested in both items.
This ice bucket is perfect for your next celebration or party or as a lovely hostess gift.
The bucket is in great vintage condition. The decoration has very little wear or fading, allowing you to step back in time to when it was made, over forty years ago. The silver foliage pattern is discontinued. It was available from 1953 to 1978. less
