Chaim Kanner was a French Postwar & Contemporary photographer who was born in 1943.
Vintage 1988 original signed Chaim Kanner silver gelatin print of New York. Simply framed and matted in a period frame by the photographer.

Chaim Kanner (1943-2000) was born in Nice, France. He studied in Europe and photographed in France and Italy. In 1967 he spent a year photographing in the US and Mexico which stimulated travel throughout his life which can be seen in his work Glasgow to Tokyo. He worked as a professional photographer, first in the commercial field and then later in the fine art realm. He moved to the US in 1981 where he worked as a commercial photographer for an advertising agency until 1986 when he concentrated on selling his own work exclusively. He died in Brooklyn after a long industrious career in 2000.

Works for various studios in Paris. Travels to Prague, Stockholm, Reykjavik and Copenhagen.
1967
Spends a year in the US and Mexico
1968–1969
Hired by an advertising agency in Paris. Travels to Madrid and Jerusalem.
1973
Year dedicated to travel: Oslo, Vienna, Athens, Istanbul, Teheran, Dehli, Calcutta, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo
1970–1975
Is hired by an advertising agency in San Francisco. Photographs and produces a documentary on Oakland for 2 years.
1976
Returned to France : Paris and Côte d'Azur
1977
Moved to San Francisco, first experiences with color photography
1978–1980
Lives in Israel in a Kibbuts for 6 months and in Jerusalem for a year - where he worked for a photography agency, street photographer of Jerusalem
1980
Moved to Paris. Worked on varied themes (people, landscape, streetscenes)
1981
Moved to Brooklyn (NYC). Worked for an advertising agency in Manhattan for many years.
1986
Stoped all commercial work. Started selling his own work.
1987
Traveled in Europe, the west and Portugal for 3 months then the Southern US
1988
Returned to Brooklyn (NYC) and Manhattan (NYC)

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.
- Please notify us within 24 hours of purchase if you would like to cancel an order, as prompt cancellation will reduce the likelihood that you will incur return shipping charges.
