They are iconic designs by iconic designers, Givenchy and Dior. The Givenchy evening dress features a grey starched chiffon dress belted with a peony-red ribbon and enwrapped in a fully draped tiered white cape. The Dior ball dress features a white linen jacket, a swirled and swagged skirt of black paper taffeta and accessorized by a black velvet hat and matching long gloves. These are show-stoppers for sure! The fashion prints are illustrated by Carl Erickson, (known as “Eric”) who dominated the world of fashion illustration for most of the 20th century. Today he is best known for his work for French Vogue magazine and Coty Cosmetics. His works appear in the fashion archives of international museums. Eric's drawings are auctioned at leading auction houses worldwide and his work is highly collectible and for good reason. His illustrations are painterly; his impressionistic style create a textural, powdery quality. His drawings are bold, "alive" and elegant. His style is recognizable! Signed and dated.
